ASIA PACIFIC CHAPTER

The Asia Pacific Chapter was established in 1984. In 1986 under the leadership of Chapter President Deputy Director General Vasit Dejkunjorn assisted by Colonel Thasanai Prajanuraka of the Royal Thai Police and Detective Chief Superintendent Malcolm Evans of the West Australia Police Force a retrainer was held at the Grand Palace Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand. At this Retrainer attendees made a formal request to Association President Richard Amiott to establish the Chapter. The Asia Pacific Chapter agreed to host retrainers every two years. For the next 10 years retraining conferences were held in the Region. A significant financial downturn in the Asia Region had an impact on the Chapter’s ability to host these retraining conferences.  It was not until a graduate of the 157th Session- former Commissioner of the Queensland Police in Australia, Bob Atkinson AO APM reignited the FBINAA in the Asia Pacific Region and hosted the 7th  retrainer on the Gold Coast in 2003. In 2005 Bob Atkinson sent the first two Chapter representatives to the Chapter Officers meeting in Quantico. As a result of this meeting Superintendent (Retired) Des Lacy became the Secretary Treasurer of the Asia Pacific Chapter and with the support of the National Executive of the FBINAA, the FBI, PACOM and the graduates of the Region annual conferences became the norm. The Asia Pacific Chapter has hosted a retraining conference each year since 2005 in over 10 different countries throughout Asia. The Retrainers are supported by many Local, Chapter and Association sponsors who we welcome as partners of the strongest law enforcement network in the Asia Pacific Region.
